Added numbers for the Philippines and Japanese 1.0L Mirage (best in its class with the 1.0L & idle-stop).

Posted numbers for Malaysia - they also use the NEDC test cycle (same as Philippines). So itmight be a safe bet to assume that all the ASEAN member countries would have the same economy rating.

Mitsu UK has updated their website & posted specs for the Mirage range -- fuel economy added to the list.

Interestingly, the car with the best combined MPG in their testing is the 1.2L with auto stop & go (idle stop). Beats the 1.0L manual.

    Hi MetroMPG

Just a thought - For our members fuel economy log would it be possible to add an extra 'country' column just to see out of interest is there any trends in different parts of the world.

I know in Australia our roads leave a bit to be desired and our fuel quality i have heard is a bit down on quality. Other factors like weather and gradient could also play a part in the data that comes out.

    Cool fuel consumption (Netherlands)

Hi, the fuel consumption figures given for the Netherlands are incomplete. Only manual transmission given and by far not the whole engine/transmission palet. Furthermore the basis of the fuel consumption figures (Euro 5B) is incorrect. Euro 5B is emission standard, not fuel consumption.

I want to make also clear that all countries of the European Union must have the same fuel consumption figures as it is tested according to one prescribed test cycle by the European Union on the basis of Directive EU 80/1268/EEC. The test cycle itself is prescibed in Regulation EG 715/2007 (in the EU a Regulation has full direct force in all member states without intervention or interpretation by member states). Of course countries like the UK can in addition have other testcycles, but they are unofficial. So, the Dutch figures are the same for the whole European Union as we MUST all use the same test cycle. In practice car manufacturers go to one EU country to offer a car for type approval tests (including the fuel consumption and emission cycles) and then get a type approval for all EU countries at once.

I looked up all the Dutch (and thus EU) figures at the Dutch Mitsubishi site . What struck me was that there were two versions of the 1.0 engine. I did not know that (cleartech and non-cleartech). Also note that CVT is only at 1.2 models, so the 1.0 models are manual transmission only.

    All figures in l/100km
    1.0 engine: City 5.0 Outside city 3.6 combined 4.2
1.0 cleartech engine: City 4.6 Outside city 3.6 combined 4.0
1.2 cleartech engine (manual): City 5.0 Outside 3.9 city combined 4.3
1.2 cleartech engine (CVT): City 4.6 Outside 3.8 city combined 4.1

Well I hope that clears things up!

wow how come the US numbers so ridiculous?
CVT uses less fuel than manual? Their testers cannot drive properly for sure!!

    Ridiculous in what respect?

Also, the CVT is rated better than the manual in every country's ratings, I believe.
