Don Swearingen, executive vice president of Mitsubishi Motors North America, said at the Los Angeles Auto Show that the Mirage sedan is scheduled to go on sale in the United States in late 2015...

[Mitsu dealership owner] Gremore said he expects the Mirage sedan ... to sell better than the hatchback in the United States.

I think that makes it more likely Mitsu is going to make a sedan announcement at the April NY Auto show.

Not necessarily.

They hold the trademark for the name, but whether they plan to use it or not is anybody's guess.

Also just realized: this will be the first ever 3-cylinder sedan sold in Canada/US. Am I wrong on that?

The Geo/Chevrolet Metro sedans had a 4-cylinder engine. (I believe I've seen one converted to the 3-cyl, but that doesn't count. )

EDIT: Yup, I'm wrong on that! The Fiesta 1.0t is available in the sedan, as of last month.

there was an early '90s geo metro 3cyl. four door sedan which was sold in canada but not the US.

Are you sure that sedan had the 3? I've never seen a 3-cyl Metro/Swift/Firefly sedan other than one that had a 1.0L engine swapped in. I thought the 1.3L engine was the standard engine.

as for the 1.0 metro sedan, i'm guessing that someone with your name and avatar knows a fair amount about the world of metros but the story my friend told me is that the 1.0 came as a factory option that had to be specifically ordered for north america (sedans came from japan apparenty), however i went online and checked at least half a dozen or more sites and could not find anything to confirm that so take it with a grain of salt. my friend is not normally a BS'er FWIW.

how do you find the MPG of the mirage in comparison to the metro?
