Tesla drivers??? I thought Tesla cars drove themselves?
"Tesla's Full Self-Driving went into wide release back in October 2021 as a beta. While the term isn't exactly accurate and the cars don't technically fully drive themselves, the technology still brings along notable upgrades over the autopilot mode most Teslas come pre-installed with." Jan 19, 2023
"Despite its name, Full Self-Driving does not enable a Tesla to completely drive itself as it does not enable a Tesla to operate for an extended period of time with the driver's hands off the steering wheel."
As technology increases human intelligence decreases. Just a hypothesis on my part, but there may be some correlation between the two?

I've noticed that in my part of the world about Ram drivers. They tailgate, pass unsafely, high beam (and light bar the universe - my personal pet peeve). And most of their turn signals seem to be broken.
Not much to say about Craplas, not too many of those survive our winters

I saw that headline earlier today. I would assume it's because either (a) Tesla drivers rely too much on the automation features or (b) the automation features aren't very good. I suppose it could be a combination of both.
People prob rely on the driving assists that the car has, even on the base trims its really good. Also the fact you need to take your eyes off the road to do anything with the car. (you can use voice control to control some functions in the car but im not sure how many use it) I see Telsa drivers also on their phones ALL THE TIME because of how good the assists are. Isn't distracted driving is worse then driving under the influence? Not just distracted driving but the fact the car has instant power whenever you want, you can get up to dangerous speeds within seconds, does that encourage fast driving? I find myself always driving in "chill mode" because the car feels like it has TO much power. Lets also consider the fact its a "safe car" which some might use that as an excuse to drive more aggressive and maybe not be as careful, I see this happen all the time.

Living more "green" can be costly! I like my little Mirage even more after seeing that.
My last payment for 6-months coverage/Geico for both vehicles (November 2023) was $438.08. I'm still under $900/year for both vehicles, & that's full coverage (except for a small comprehensive/collision deductible).
I know a young couple that owns a RAM pickup truck & new Chevy Bolt. Both are justified. He works two jobs, and one job involves running his dad's former roofing/small construction business. He wife has a 35 mile commute to work each day, & the Bolt is perfect for that. The Bolt's limitations, however, require the use of their pickup truck for trips a Mirage would handle with ease. Like trips to an airport a few hours away, visiting her parents a few hours away, etc. When in doubt about the range, they are forced to use their truck. Overall, it makes me wonder how much gas is really saved?

That is so hilarious. Tesla's are capable of driving by themselves, I'm sure most people use hands-free cruise control but I know almost nothing about Tesla's.
Pretty ironic that a capable self-driving car company leads the pack in most car crashes in the country. 🤣
I can't speak to all the reasons why Tesla drivers get into more accidents as I'm sure there are many different scenarios. But I will say that it's easily the most powerful car I've ever driven. Going from a 3-cylinder Mirage to a Tesla Model 3 that can accelerate 0-60mph in 4.2 seconds is a big jump.
Back in the day I have taken a performance driver's school so I have a little background but no experience with this kind of power. My one big takeaway from that school is aggressive driving needs to be done on a track, not public roads.
The power is intoxicating. It'll go right to your head and cloud better judgement. The car better be pointed in the right direction before stomping on the accelerator, because the car is going to get there a lot quicker than you would expect. If you're not ready for it, trouble just might ensue.
Another funny thing - maybe related, maybe not - some Tesla owners go through a set of tires in around 10,000 miles, I suspect from hard driving.
Just for a point of reference, I'm not paying half the amount claimed in that graphic, not even close. And mine isn't the base model - it's only the second cheapest one offered because I paid extra for the long-range battery pack.
Must be something about Texas drivers, I don't know.
