    My starter pooped the bed....

I checked NAPA for a replacement and their list price is $672.00... no thanks.

Another is listed on Amazon.ca for $188.00 from DB Electrical, has anyone had experience with these?

Fummins seems to have the most experience with rebuilding these, I may go this route eventually to have a spare, but for now I would like something to bolt in & go with a reasonable expectation of getting a durable repair.

Should I even bother calling the stealership?

There is new Mitsubishi branded starter on Ebay for $120, says 2 are available.

I've bookmarked carpart.com for future use as I've just picked up a used sierra 1500 that needs some work.

I'm not sure how common Auto Zone is in Canada, but I have found them to be somewhat competitive.

    These are American examples -

Rock Auto has 3 rebuilt starters for $99.79-$178.79 (if you trade them your core).

Auto Zone has their Duralast starter for $189.99 + $40 core deposit.

I'm 60 years old, & I have never bought a starter (new or rebuilt one), but I have had local guys rebuild them for me. I currently have 7 items with starters.

Two of them have starters * that I had local guys rebuild, but they are 38 & 45 years old items respectively. It cost about $100 to have it done, but that was years ago. It's probably twice that today. For those guys, however, it's about an hour job for them.

If you look at my list of old things with starters, my Mirage is still my baby!

Subaru Forester - 12 years old
Mitsubishi Mirage - 6 years old
John Deere riding lawnmower (Kawasaki engine) - 30 years old
    *Honda Fourtrax 250 - 38 years old
    Honda Fourtrax 300 4x4 - 27 years old
    Kawasaki Mule 610 4x4 - 17 years old
*Bolens G174 4x4 (Mitsubishi diesel engine) - approximately 45 years old

I use my old stuff, too!

This resembles my lineup if you include my '95 Tacoma, I just drove that to the wreckers 2 weeks ago!
The Cdn version of Auto Zone is called Parts Source, it's owned by Crappy Tire.

Just curious... Is there a difference between the CVT/5-speed starters? When I'm looking at parts websites, everyone seems to list a single part number.
