Yeah they all have wear like that one. One cylinder is way worse than the others and has deep ridges in the cylinder. Only one wrist pin was badly worn, which isn't the one with the badly scored cylinder. There's a lot of carbon buildup on the pistons too.

I've mentioned this before... Every time I see an oil analysis on a Mirage (including my own), the aluminum is always slightly elevated. Wonder if it's related to piston skirt wear? I'm approaching 140,000 miles and my car is now using 1 quart of oil every 5,000 miles. I'm not worried about it and the engine still runs fine...but I wonder if it's all related.

Is there anything anyone want's to see pics of on this engine before I make it go away? It's pretty stripped down. I started to strip a screw holding the oil pump to the timing cover so didn't bother with it.
I'll try to put together a vijeo tearing this engine down.
Unrelated, I had a different 2015 in the shop for an oil change earlier with 552,000kms/343,000miles. It still runs great. Next month I'll have to check the oil level before drain it to see if it's using much.

If you're going to trash the pistons, might I pay shipping for one? The cutest one of course. Wrist pin too if possible.
I'd like to set it on my desk here at work. When someone asks, I'll tell them that's a heavy haul tow rig piston from a different Blueberry... "Look at the size of that wrist pin! You know these suckers can really crank out the torque!"

I'll tape some looney twoneys to some geese this spring, and see what happens.

I broke open the pickup tube. I’m not sure what the red crap is. It’s a weird gritty substance. Attachment 26426Attachment 26427
