I get it, and probably deserve it.

With this thread I hope I can help someone better understand how this stuff works rather than dismiss it as entirely useless.

I typically turn the car on and come back 5 minutes later to drive it. During the warm up cycles, the auto temp increases along side the fan speed in correlation to the vehicles operating temperature. Settings are also preserved while the vehicle is parked and keyed off for the night.

However, I don't recall if the foot/window position also becomes selected as operating temp reaches optimal. I think it does - as in on start up, automatic climate control prioritizes window defrost until proper engine temperature; then it splits windows and foot-well.

TLDR, Auto Climate Control is good.
I'm the guy that tries to make the wheels roll any time the cranshaft is rolling. I ain'ta waitin' on no light to go off. Crank and roll baby!

I didn't mind it changing to defrost mode automagically. But I didn't want the A/C running, under those circumstances (the fact that my winder cleared with 1 wiper stroke). The system doesn't know the condition of the windshield, it's just programmed to go to defrost mode based on temp. No complaints about that. The A/C uses too many extra micro-ounces of fuel, for my taste.

I will say, I have decreased my disdain for our auto climate system (controls) by a small fraction due to Eggman's information.

    And everyone else’s input.

Our favorite little cars have some surprising features that I didn’t expect to see on the cheapest subcompact on the market.

Just when you think you’ve got it all figured out, there’s something else to learn about. I still marvel at them, and miss mine on a regular basis.

I drove Speck the same way. Somewhere here on the forum someone pointed out it’s the best way to warm it up, both the engine and the transmission. I’ve learned a lot on this forum.
