I have been looking at the 5-speed vs CVT transmission fuel logs, and it didn't seem right that CVTs would get almost 30mpg less than manual transmissions. I started looking at the fuel logs I thought were outliers, and came across the fuel log for mitsoulorette, which says they got 2,167.1 mpg (US) on 12-15-2023.
Other outliers include mitsumi, which states 3,108.4 mpg (US) (5-speed) near the bottom of the list, with no real date or fill up data, and emanuelrv with 4.4 mpg (US) (with CVT) also with no date or fill up data. Both of these were at the bottom, which leads me to believe they were either logs from very early on or there is some error in the code.
I would believe the manual transmission to still be higher MPG, because of locations of manual transmission drivers (not as popular in the USA) and they probably would attract more hypermilers, but I think this deserves some looking at.
I saw that also. The outliers skew the log, but the regular contributors seem to show better mileage for the 5 speed manual.
