    Guess the height

On the topic of antennas I found this great pic. I don't know what country it is, but how high is that thing?

My guess is 20 feet from the ground to the antenna tip.Name: Mirage with HF antenna EA2FL3.JPG

The antenna on the car looks like there is a coathanger above the coil. The antenna on the old Mercedes uplink behind it might even be 2m in diameter, but it looks mounted asymmetrically, so probably it is 1.6m diameter. It doesn't look like an AVL or a Vertex/General Dynamics, dunno what brand it is. Dunno what company is called ETB, never heared of them.

@Wallythacker, so it's not 20 feet, Basque Country is metric. So maybe it's 7 meters.

I'd be guessing it was an 8.5' CB whip, if I were guessing.

Can I change my guess to 8 1/2 feet instead? Is there a prize?

Lol, still an insane height. I know of plenty of hydro wires that cross suburban streets and I'm sure they are not 20'/7m high.

It appears wherever this guy lives they also have exposed hydro wires. Imagine having to plan your every trip so as to avoid any road with potentially low hydro lines. Nuts.

my guess is based on the location on the hatch, 3' off the ground, the 1st joint, 2.5 ' above that, the bottom of the resonator, 3' above, resonator, 1.5 ', top of coathanger, 2' , whip, 8; .

up here we call overhead electrical power lines hydro lines. I guess we call mostly all our power lines hydro something or other. comes from our power utility being called Ontario Hydro for the first 100 years of its existence.
