I would have voted the same way but I'm trying to figure out why my windshield cracked side to side, I have a vibration I can't get rid of, different wheels and tires don't help, I have odd bubbles in my roof paint from a non-existent winter and finally my 2017 A/C does not compare to my 2014 plugged heater core climate control Mirage.

So ya, my 2014 has been the best car I have ever owned even though I bought it in 2019 with 239,000kms. I admit my 2017 has been reliable and never failed to start.

Zero, 2014 ES Plus 5MT, written off but not forgotten.

Mirage owners look at the world differently than everyone else, but in a better way
We're driving the Beetle of the 21st century, the greatest small car now available!

and that flywheel/starter issue everyone knows about
I don't Guess need to check out on the forum what's ahead of me.

Oh, and keep in mind that the speedometers on the Canadia Mirages typically read 5kph high
Same in Europe, doing 50km/h you are doing 43-45km/h max, easy to check with any GPS speedometer app. Confirmed it does not apply to US cars - was not a case in my Odyssey.

It doesn't apply to U.S. cars because we don't measure speed with killermeaters per hour.

But we do indeed have speedometer error, at least with 165/65-14 tars. It's about 1.5 to 2 mph optimistic at 50 mph.

We don't use killermeaters per hour because it is less accurate than miles per hour. You see? Where ours is off only 1.5 to 2 mph, y'alls is WAY off by 5 killermeaters per hour. Damn inaccurate crusty-assed metric system!

Hey Basic - Maybe you can design some more accurate tars that ain't got no speed error built into them.

Hahaha... good one! My Odyssey coming from the US was showing speed in miles - yet it was super accurate, with no errors observed. My conspiracy theory for European cars is that they make it on purpose so it would be "safer"

There were a handful of people that had starter grinding problem in some 2014's. It's really not a common thing and seemed to be an early 2014 thing, and not that common. You only hear about about the ones with problems.

I've owned 2 2014's so far and have had zero issues with either. My current 2014 has 318,000km and still running the original flywheel and starter-I replaced the engine years back but used all the old accessories and manifolds.

I would say my Mirage with 165/65r14 is about 1-2 mph slow @ 60 mph, too. Less than 2, but seems more than 1.

I think 175/65r14 tires would correct that & maybe make it closer to 1 mph above @ 60 mph. I don't have the tires to test that, however.

    1 mile = 1.6 km & 2 miles = 3.2 km

Since a km is a smaller unit than a mile, I would argue it's a more accurate measurement of speed.

Mine's a 2013 build according to the plaque thingy in the door jamb. May 2013 if I remember correctly. I found out about the Mirage the day I test drove a Mirage.

I saw an advertisement on the television at the dentist, while getting one of my wisdom teeth pulled. Like on the ceiling. Ad on the TV said 40+ mpg, $12,495. So I took a test drive. Beforehand I was really contemplating the Lancer ES manual to be honest.

The buggery thing is when Mitsubishi started selling the 2015's for $9995 when Nissan came out with the Micra.

Has been the only new car I have ever owned. My Escort was really reliable too. They say it had a Mazda engine. I liked all the big glass windows so it was easy to see out of.

So true. I will look twice if I see a yellow Lambo drive by, but otherwise I figure to each their own. I'm not going to spend time thinking about what others like. But wow is it annoying when people pass me and aren't even in their lane, trying to clip me almost. Like this is not a video game lol

Me neither. Doesn't get you there any faster, either. I don't know how many times I've seen speeders weave in and out of traffic, only to make it 2 cars ahead of me stopped at the next red light. You'd think they'd learn from their experiences. But you'd "think" is being generous to some of the brute animals behind the wheel.

Yep this is true. I've seen this myself with those "make you guilty" speed readers they have around. That say how fast you're driving, then say 'thank you' when you're below. My Mirage is like 4 km's slower than the speedo says.

    Really? Like rust bubbles?

Thanks to everyone for replying to my thread, including Mark. I'm not sure if my multi-quote reply worked. So I may have forgotten someone. But you're not forgotten
