    A CVT Nissan...with only a 6/60,000 mile powertrain warranty? I'll pass.

I just did a check on cars.com. There are 4,000+ 2024 Versas for sale. Fewer than 90 of them (about 2%) have a 5-speed.

This is probably a bait-and-switch ad...

Be sure to read Basic's comments about his Versa 5-speed test drive.

I read it and it made me think back on how glad I was when procuring the G4.

I do wonder if Basic has driven the G4 manual? Curious to hear his experience.

Basic's opinion of the 5-speed Versa is eye opening.

I have a very low opinion of Nissan these days. 20 years ago, I put them right up there behind Toyota & Honda. Today, I would place them below Kia & Hyundai with the exception of the Frontier pickup truck. A Frontier pickup truck would be the only Nissan I would consider, and it would have to be an older model.

If someone gave me a Nissan with a CVT today, I would be selling it tomorrow. I have little faith in their reliability, and I like to keep vehicles beyond warranty.

If I wanted to replace my Mirage with something a little nicer, it would be a used Honda Fit or Mazda3 hatchback (preferably a manual). I would consider a Civic or Corolla, too. Having said that, I am content with my Mirage for my needs.

Going forward in life, a used Honda, Toyota, or Mazda vehicles would be my next purchase. That could change 10-15 years from now when I am in the market for something else. For now, I'm content with what I have thanks to my Mirage.

I haven't read about his opinion. I'll have to try to search it out. I'd like to hear some first-hand experience with it.

I was "building" one of those (with a manual) on this Monday. We are a lot alike. They look to be quite nice. I wouldn't mind buying one now before the manuals are dead there too, and storing it in my closet until I need it.

Funny, because isn't it the same CVT-7 as used in the Mirage? It was in the last gen Versa, anyway. I haven't checked to see if it's still the same.

dspace9, I totally get your appreciation for this car. Before they cancelled the manual in the base trim, it represented a lot of car for the money, relative to the Mirage.

I don't care though. My next car will likely be someone else's used Mirage! FIGHT LIFESTYLE INFLATION!!

My second favorite rental before I bought my first Mirage was a Versa CVT.
It went great. The mileage was insanely good and I thrashed the ELS out of it. Got 5.1/5.2 over a 2000 km weekend trip.
Loved the extras and the interior space.
Since it has (had) the same CVT as a Mirage I would not be too worried about having one.
I thought they were discontinued. I may need to look into this.
