Hell, I can do it myself.

Single Grade Oil: 20w, 30w, etc..
Oil: No idea, I just put in whatever is laying around.
Hell , then do it .
(Mirage owners manual page 7-10)
1) Recommended engine oil viscosity "oil with the proper thickness for outdoor temperatures"
2) 0W-20 oil is strongly recommended for "optimum fuel economy and cold starting".
3) The graphic shows that 0W-20 is recommended across a broad range of temperatures.

This is from a Sept. 25, 2013 Mitsubishi press release on the 2014 Mirage :
Additional efficiency has been designed into the engine by reducing the friction and mass of numerous key components including the lightweight hollow camshaft and pistons as well as resin-coated low friction bearings, low-friction piston rings, improved surface smoothness of the valve stems and camshaft journals, along with the addition of an output optimized engine oil pump that circulates lower viscosity engine oil (0W-20 grade).

I have a different oil-recommendation in my German manual.
It says exactly the same as in post #1 but additionally quotes the stricter European ACEA quality-ratings.
Here we drive long distances on the Autobahn and we drive fast, that ensures elevated oil temperatures.
In winter it can get down to -35°C and in Summer it may be up to +45°C.
I think I will stay with a modern 100% synthetic 5W-40 with the highest ACEA quality rating.
In European conditions I rather have the very best high temperature shear specs than 2% lower consumption and maybe 40% shortened engine life.
Btw, in the states the term "synthetic" may legally include cheaper HC-crack oils that by European law are only allowed to be called "mineral-based" or "partly synthetic".

Thanks foama! Would you be able to post a photo of your owner's manual's oil recommendations?
Here it is, the engine oil recommendation from the Mirage manual for Germany
Attachment 1639
Translation:
- Choose the SAE viscosity according to temperature.
The oils SAE 0W-20, 0W-30, 5W-30 and 5W-40 are only allowed, if they fulfill or surpass following specifications: ACEA A3/B3, A3/B4, or A5/B5 and API SM or higher.
Only use oil of the following classifications:
- API classification SM or higher
- Oil with ILSAC certification
- The ACEA classifications: "For service A1/B1, A3/B3, A3/B4, or A5/B5"

Thanks foama! I really appreciate it.
if that table is to be followed, 20W-40, and 20W-50 should be sufficient for Houston temperatures.
