I don't want to jinx it by posting, but I am going to try and go look at a super cheap Mirage I found tomorrow. It's a cvt which I don't prefer, but it is so cheap I don't think I can pass on it... fingers crossed...

good luck, these things are like potato chips.
you can't have just one.
BTW: The black on black 2014 SE CVT for $2995 sold, quickly, to my surprise. Perhaps it was spotless and sounded great. Here's hoping the buyer finds the forums and joins up.

Well I am officially back in the Mirage world ladies and germs.
2015 DE CVT with 70k miles for the princely sum of $2750.
She’s had a hard knock life and certainly has her share of bruises but her heart seems good.
I’ll post pics when I can.

Awesome. What other 5 year old car with that kind of reasonable mileage can be bought for $2750?
That is, if you want a reliable car that is currently running. I don't know of any other brand.

Woohoo! Congrats!
I offered somebody $1600 today for a 15 year-old Echo sedan... and they turned me down. One day I'll find a cheap Mirage.

Treated Betty White to what is likely her first ever sip of Techron, aired up the tires to the placard 35 psi just to see what her baseline was. Haven’t hand calculated since I just filled it up and only drove 100ish miles but if the computer is anything like Basics was I am thoroughly happy. I will start a garage entry to show all her bumps and bruises and any mods I do. First thing will be an oil change and cvt fluid but the very next is Cruise Control. Oh the horror. I forgot how much I rely on cruise just for comfort. Although I will say that it’s obviously much easier to keep the rpms where you want them with no cruise.

Bravo! That is a fantastic price. By the way the oem coolant should be blue. If anyone sees green it means the coolant has been changed (Which it should have been done every 5 years or 100,000 miles)
Man, Im jealous when I see all these great bargains on used cars. Makes me feel dumb for buying new car but in my case.....I had no choice really. This was around the time where used cars had shot up in price because of a low supply. So When I got my 2015 for $9000 it would have been like $8000 for a used 2014 so it just was not worth it.
BTW: I really recommend and enjoyed reading this article and also the reddit thread associated with it where they did a cost analysis of which was the better over all value
* Buying new car and keeping it for 20 years
* Buying 10 year old car and keeping it 5 years
* Buying a 5 year old car and keeping it 10 years
and so forth. I think you will all be surprised at which method was the best. Very interesting math analysis
