I noticed that an item the owners manual calls tow hook is included in
the tool bag stored with the spare tire. It is threaded on one end with
an eye on the other. I can't find a place it would connect to. Does
anyone know what it is?

Look at the pics in this recent post (specifically the passenger side front bumper):

Thanks for the info. This is a steel pin threaded on one end. I think it's for
a tie down strap.

Yeah, you're describing the OEM 'tow hook,' post I linked to was just to show where it goes, that user (in the link) happened to put in a 'permanent' shackle at the OEM mount for the 'tow hook,' I believe it's a drag racer thing (to have a shackle up front like that, after a run you have a quick hook up to be pulled back to the pits), I think it looks cool with the shackle up there myself.

After viewing the picture, I found the small plastic door on the bumper and behind it is the threaded
hole for the hook. I would have never known about it if not for the Mirage forum.. Thanks

It's not obvious to me how the door for the tow hook opens. It doesn't appear to have hinges.

HA! I just found the tow hook whilst rotating the tires for the first time. They don't expect us to use that for anything do they? It's a nice hunk of aluminum that I could turn into something more useful.

You might want to save it since most other means of towing will rip the front end to pieces, especially the bumper cover.
