I'm taking my car to a private shop with an experienced alignment tech who doesn't have an interest in making the numbers look acceptable. A qualified second opinion is worth a few dollars and peace of mind. If my specs are off, then I'll make an appointment with the dealer.

I hope my dealer will do the right thing if my specs are off...but I'm not 100% certain they will. So I will have my own numbers in hand, just in case. I hope to get the car in by Wednesday.

I intend to do the same thing with my Mirage - have it checked by an independent shop. Let us know how yours turns out.

My 2015 ES has 400 miles on it (build date October 2015). After reading all 70+ pages of this thread, I decided to have the alignment checked today. The printout is below. My rear toe is within specs...

Yes looks good. I wouldn't worry too much about cross camber in front as it is a standard practice to have 0.5deg more negative camber on the right to compensate for road crown. If car doesn't pull to left with steering wheel set straight.

But this is strange to have positive camber on left; perhaps your tech could try to unbolt top strut mounts and move it around to get better readings?

This shop was pretty cool. This may have been the first Mirage they had seen...because only one guy there understood when I told them the rear axle has no adjustments. I think they were as curious as I was to find out if it was out of whack.

Since they didn't have to adjust anything, they didn't even charge me for putting it on the rack and giving me the printout.

I would loosen the strut to knuckle mount on the right side and pry or push the strut out as far as it would go then tighten down the bolts, which should get you in specs. Most replacement struts have the bolt holes oval shaped for that purpose. Best way for a shop to calibrate their gauges is to put them on a solid rear axle where all dimensions should be 0.

Thanks for the tip, mech. I may try that if I don't end up doing springs and/or new wheels/tires first.

The funny thing is I didn't even notice the cross camber spec when they showed me the printout (even though it's the only red number on the sheet!!!). I think I was so relieved that there were no red numbers on the rear axle, I ran out of the place like I had just won the lottery or something...

I wondered the same thing. The build date on my car is October 2015. I didn't even know they were still building 2015's then.

My 2015 was built in July 2014. Since they skipped 2016, they saved the issue of retooling for a new model until the 2017 model came out.

I read a little about the factory. It would seem that Mitsu is planning on increasing the Thai factory production dramatically. They have significantly more workers per vehicle produced. This would imply that they will "cull the herd" of employees for those who are more dedicated to the task, while implementing automation where it is cost effective. The labor cost is lower in Thailand than even in China. They had a lot of Japanese quality inspectors initially unitil they got the system working.

Those who think Mitsu will exit the US market, should read some of the company history of this manufacturing, insurance and banking conglomerate. Their decision to exit the US market would only be made after they decided it was not worth their time and energy to do so. Remember the Mitsubishi 0 of WW2 fame. Very similar to the Mirage, very light, much smaller engine, no armor protection, astounding range, unbeatable maneuverability and rate of climb. (Read Saburo Sakai's book)

Totally devastated by the war the Japanese economy rose from the ashes to become one of the most powerful economic engines globally. They know exactly what they are doing.

$168,000,000,000 in gross sales in 2011 for the whole corporation, if my math is correct.

    regards
    mech
