Mud guards were one of the first things I bought for my Mirage. Here in the wet, sloppy Pacific Northwest, we need them! Even with the larger US rear bumper, these cars can throw up some pretty serious 'rooster tails' from the rear wheels during heavy rain. And what comes off of the front wheels winds up splattered all the way down the sides of the car. Not a good look.
I actually like the rear bumper on US cars as well. These cars have a somewhat bulbous front end, and the more substantial rear bumper on US cars balances it out a bit. Makes them look a little less nose-heavy when viewed from the side, IMHO.
