    I'm running 175/65R14 just fine on stock rims. I got some cheapo's from Hibdon's. http://www.tiresplus.com/tire_catalo...ty=4&Pno=(405) 759-8324
Have no complaints so far. Had them for a couple months now. Minimal road noise and more comfortable ride than the stock Enasaves, but that's to be expected as it isn't a firm LRR tire.

Curious how you are liking the 175/65's. Have you seen any mpg improvement due to the larger tire diameter? Also, is it nice to have lower rpm's on he highway?

it is only +2.7% size up, so impact on RPMs is negligible. 3000 vs 2921 at highway speed

    Sorry, just saw this...

RPMs haven't changed. MPG is worse. It's not an eco friendly tire. It's larger, heavier and causes more friction. About 5-8mpg less on my commute to work now. I don't really care, fillups aren't expensive and the ride improved so much I find it worth it. Still better MPG than most every other car...

Keep in mind that your speedo error 2.7%, and this has an impact on MPG, distance traveled and speed.

How do you feel about the Douglas All-Season Tire 185/60R14 82H SL on the stock rims?

They are $50 shipped to the local Walmart and then I can have them mounted, balanced and installed at a mom and pop tire repair shop for $5 each

    http://www.walmart.com/ip/185-60R14-...-Tire/46633819

I am looking for best gas milage as the primary concern

It says these are produced exclusively for Walmart by GoodYear and good for 40,000 miles

Wasn't there a tire engineer (or some such) as a member here? I would like to hear their opinion on this. Thanks for bringing this up.

I had asked about them but noone seems to have first hand experience with them. There are some $40 options online:
    http://m.tirerack.com/tires/TireResu...ltering=true#0
    https://www.tiresavings.com/tireShop...n=findCombined

Personally the RT43 are $56ea, General runs $50 off set of 4 from time to time, and they have very good reviews for 2nd tier tire. Good grip, handling and rolling for non-LRR tire. We got ~8k out of them at the moment, and they look like new. On Mirage they will last way more than 65k warranty.
