I used to feel these same feelings about CR when I was first getting in to Kia Motors and online carsites. They always would put the same, tired rubbish about Kia's. Goofy outfit, really, I don't see their necessary use.

I find it interesting that Consumer Reports subjectively dislikes the Mirage but their objective testing (avoidance speed, braking, 8 year cost, MPG, etc) is mostly above average to excellent. They also significantly undervalue a vehicles total cost of ownership and reliability which are often the primary purchasing factors.
These consumer reports look at it from a 1-day use perspective or such. I noticed before I bought my Mirage that the stars it got were low on professional reports and then high stars from actual buyers. The Chevy Spark was the opposite, high professional, low buyer.
I see that they complain about the cars being slow. Why would a subcompact car need to reach 0-60 in 4 seconds in the city? I rarely ever go passed 50mph and the acceleration to 50 is not bad.
Edit: The problem they have is that they don't consider the use for the car.

Each of my 3 Kia's have been workhorses and haven't given me any trouble. Don't get me started on my 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer GTS, though.
The first Vegas engines were absolute junk, the cylinder walls in the aluminum block "sank" and the head gasket failed. Vegas had been out a couple of months and the dealership was replacing 40 engines a month. GM tried, rather stupidly, tried to blame it on Prestone antifreeze.
Know anyone who changes the antifreeze in their week old car. They add antifreeze when their new cars junk engine starts mixing it with engine oil and spewing it out the tailpipe.

Consumer Reports updated their list of worst cars to include 10 now. The article on AutoGuide.com used a picture of the 2017 Mirage as the header.
http://www.autoguide.com/auto-news/2...-category.html
Considering other countries are giving the Mirage best car awards, sales keep going up and buyer satisfaction is high, it comes off as a bunch of rubbish.
Update:
Here is the original article from CR
http://www.consumerreports.org/cars/...om-picks-2016/
They show a picture of the 2017, but they haven't tested a 2017. They comment on the 2017 updates, but ignore them stating that the updates won't "mask the weak, vibrating three-cylinder engine that delivers sluggish acceleration and a raspy chorus of lament".
