Thanks for the replies. I just check mine as well too and throttle still moves freely without sticking. I am just wondering cause the dealership service advisor said that it is dirty and needed throttle cleaning for Cad$195 plus tax. What a rip-off for an easy job.
did mine after 3yrs
first time cleaning the throttle body.

BTW just a quick question
After cleaning the throttle body is it normal when i started the engine it sounds like the engine is drowning. hehe sorry for the term not sure what to use. Inlet the cleaner dry first before starting the car.
But after a few minutes its ok now when i start the engine

The FSM says as follows about throttle body cleaning:
THROTTLE BODY (THROTTLE VALVE AREA) CLEANING
WARNING
When touching the throttle valve, surely shut off the
driving circuits of the throttle valve. In the event that
the throttle valve is operated, a finger might be
injured as the result of being caught by the throttle
valve.
CAUTION
When the throttle body cleaning is performed, use scan
tool MB991958 to initialize the learning value (Refer to
GROUP 00)
Precautions Before Service
Initialization Procedure for Learning Value in MFI Engine P.00-41).
1. Disconnect the electronic-controlled throttle valve connector.
2. Remove the air intake hose from the throttle body.
3. Remove the throttle body.
4. Spray cleaning solvent on a clean cloth.
Make sure the cleaning solvent does not enter the
motor and the sensor through the shaft.
Do not remove molybdenum. which is applied around
the throttle valve of the throttle body.
5. Wipe off the dirt around the throttle valve with the cloth
sprayed with cleaning solvent.
6. Install the throttle body.
7. Install the air intake hose.
8. Connect electronic-controlled throttle valve connector.

soot, a product of blowby builds up in due time, accumulates and becomes attached to the MAP Sensor affecting the metering accuracy of the MAP sensor and so ideal AFR may not be achieved. MAF sensor as used in US models (not MAP) being near to the air filter is much much cleaner as compared to models w/ MAP sensor which is practically inside the intake manifod.
The throttle valve body do not become as dirty as the MAP sensor. I cleaned it only once following the instructions exactly as given in the manual. Others do the cleaning by spraying directly into the body.
I do seldom clean the MAP sensor now as I've observed status of the sensor is clean ever since I installed an OCC
Be careful cleaning the throttle body on a drive-by-wire car. Manually opening the throttle plate can cause idle problems on some cars. I did this on a GM car and it took about 3 days for the car to re-learn where to idle.
The proper procedure on some cars is to have an assistant step on the gas pedal to open the throttle plate instead of doing it manually like everyone is used to doing on older cars. Either that or disconnect the wiring harness from the throttle body during the cleaning process.
