    Recommended Oil change intervals

Maybe I may overlooked it in the manual some where.

Can anyone tell me what the oil change intervals are?

In my old car, the Maintenance required light would flash at 4500 miles upon start up, and once you reached the 5000 mile mark since the last oil change it would stay on.

Does Mitsubishi recommend 3000 or 5000 miles?

    Thanks

It varies, and it's posted around here somewhere...

Let me get back to you...

believe it or not, here in my country oil change is done every 12500 miles or 1 year for my space star. I don't know why there is such a big difference?

I think I know why. I believe you guy's in Europe have a very short warranty period compared to here. We have 10 year 160000km (100000mile) warranty. What is it there, around 1/2 that? They only want the car to last til the warranty. But some will argue it's cause you have inferior quality oil in Europe.

Europe is recommending 12,500 miles oil change intervals for the Mirage. U.S. is 7,500 miles, and Canada is 5,000 miles. That might make one assume Europe has better oil quality. If oil changes were solely based on getting through the warranty period, I would find that pretty lame. It would be interesting to know the real reason for the drastic oil change differences throughout the world market (climate conditions, oil quality, or length of warranty offered)?

Schedule 1: Every 3,750 miles (6,000 km) or every 3 months.
Schedule 2: Every 7,500 miles (12,000 km) or every 6 months.

If you need to reset the service indicator yourself see here.

In the US its 7,500 miles but you are supposed to use full synthetic for that interval to be valid. Most modern cars have factory intervals of 5,000 with conventional oil.

I am personally going to 15K with Mobil 1 EP, and will send a used oil sample for lab analysis at the end of my experiment.

I was thinking of doing the same thing. What lab are you going to use for the analysis? I hope you post your results and let us know how things turn out.

I'll be using Blackstone. It will be a few months untill I hit 15k but I'll post the results here when I do. So far after 9k the oil is within a few millimeters of the full mark so I don't think I'll need to add any makeup oil.
