    Passenger Airbag Light

I noticed recently that my Mirage doesn't show the "Passenger Airbag Off" light, when no one is sitting in the passenger seat. The only light that appears is the 'x2' light (yellow color). Last night, I also noticed that this light was also dimming, and when I turned the switch for the interior light back and forth, the light returned to full brightness.

So I'm wondering if I have a problem with the sensor in the seat not registering no one is actually sitting there. What do you guys think? Should I have it inspected by the dealer? Should this be a major concern?

The only part that lights up is the 'x2' and the 'passenger airbag off' just is never on. I think you're in correct operation.

I agree and have yet to find any mention how to manually override the system to turn it off.

It's a sensor in the seat belt latch. If you latch the seat belt with no passenger the 'x2' light shuts off. But what I'm talking about is the override to place a car seat in the front passenger seat. Some cars had a switch in the glove box which required a key but I haven't read anywhere how to do this in the Mirage.

Unless yours is different than mine, there's a passenger seatbelt light and the x2 airbag light. If you start the car with no one in the passenger seat both lights will come on. Then the seatbelt light will go off, and x2 will stay on. If you push on the seat and hold, the x2 will shut off and if you continue to hold the seatbelt light will illuminate to indicate passenger to buckle up. Only the sensor for weight in the seat still determine if the passenger airbag should be used or not, and has nothing to do with buckling the seat belt. My niece rides with me sometimes, and the airbag light will stay on since she is too light. So, in essence, there's two sensors not one. If placing a car seat in the seat, not recommended anyway, leaves the light on, then it's too light to trip the sensor, of it goes out, it's heavy enough. They did this because too many children would die from rear facing car seats, and the weight sensor took place of the manual on and off button. You won't find those too often anymore if at all.

Yah, my seat belt light will never go off unless the passenger seat belt is latched, it will flash and continue to flash unless it's latched even if no one is in the seat. Makes sense about the weight sensor though and the x2 light.
