What are you trying to do? Make it noisier? Increase performance?

    Keep the factory resonator
Do Not step up tubing ID unless you step it back down asap

Both of the above will keep the "raspyness" out of the exhaust and produce a more mellow tone.

honestly, ide try just removing the factory muffler. possibly put a cherry bomb in it's place. Extremely cheap, easy, and best of all... reversable

On the other hand if your into the obnoxious raspy tone, farm and fleet sells mufflers for tractors. I put one on a car i swear it made it louder than no muffler at all. I used one for an international harvester, 2.5" id looks corregated on the inside like a cherry bomb without the glass.

    They're very heavy, though.

You make me want to weld a cherry bomb on my car lol let me know how it goes

Hks muffler in place of stock muffler and second cat delete

I thought I would post my exhaust setup here.
On the mirage G4/Attrage the exhaust setup is perfect with flange after the headers and a second flange before the resonator and the tail pipe. I took off the whole center section between the two flanges which consist of the secondary cat and the muffler. In its place 1.6" piping with a HKS hi power universal 130mm diameter muffler.

Here is a video of how it sounds:
    https://youtu.be/q26QvTXRWXA

My exhaust is definitely leaking at the joints. After it warms up the sound is a bit too loud for my taste.
I will get the leaks fixed and see if the sound level reduces. Also have a resonated tip on the way.
