So... I'm hating this option. In my humble opinion mine is clamping too hard on the brakes.
I got a loud pop tonight and brake noise after.....
Anyone know if it can be disabled ?

How is it supposed to work? I don't know anything about it.

The system is described in the owner's manual how it works, but can't remember. Not sure if you can disable or fake it.

It locks the brakes hydraulically.
Like an old mico lock on the old 25999 gvw hydraulic brake trucks with manual transmissions.
I have a class A cdl and have been around trucks my whole life. Pretty sure I can safely harness all that 78 hp/ 74 ft lbs of torque without my brakes breaking due to ungodly pressure

If it works like the mico lock it is simply locking in the pressure you are applying with your right foot as you hold the car in place. It doesn't add more pressure. Mine has come into play often with no issues to date.
You might try using less pedal pressure and see if it works better.
Will weld for beer.

I developed a serious dislike of the hill holder on my 17. It just holds way too long for my taste. Several times it held while turning out of a driveway and my car was actually going sideways for a second or two until the hill holder released.
I did notice that the hill holder is disabled any time the brake warning light on the dash comes on such as if the hand brake is applied. On my Mirage lifting the hand brake one notch wouldn't apply the brake but would light the warning light and cancel the hill holder, but driving around with the brake warning light on was unacceptable.
I ended up designing an electronic timer circuit to pulse the wire that goes from the hand brake sensor switch every time i release the foot brake. It effectively blips the brake warning light on for about a tenth of a second (barely noticable) which disables the hill holder when i release the foot brake. I included a switch to return the hill holder to normal if I want. Its kind of a clunky way to do it but I could find no other way to disable that irritating hill holder.
