I dont know much about plugs and sparks yet so I went with what is available at the shop.
If your Mirage had Iridium spark plugs, you're removing a superior spark plug that should be good for 168,000 km (105,000 miles) according to my Mitsubishi Mirage Maintenance Schedule & installing inferior ones.

Iridium spark plugs last a very long time. Does your Mirage have Iridium spark plugs?

I would reinstall the iridiums. They are a far superior plug. Unless they were fouling due to low quality fuels the OEM iridiums should be good for at least 150,000 km's.

Had to weld a broken alternator bracket yesterday, noticed it after the new belt popped off. Then I noticed alternator was “twisted” a bit(out of alignment) compared to the other pulleys.
I suspect the bottom bracket for the alternator has worn and is causing it to shift. Anyone else experience this? 84k miles on a 2015.

How'd that happen, was everything loose for a few years?
That lower bracket is the engine block. I've never seen any play there before, just the complete opposite. They're usually tighter than...and the lower bolt can get seized in place. The one upper bracket that I did have break, snapped off near where it bolts to the cylinder head.

Well, unfortunately I've only had my eyes on this car for about 10k miles now, and it's had an on-going squeaky belt. I replaced the "first" one with a Gates, then adjusted it several times (squeak kept returning), then the last adjustment the belt popped off, so I re-installed the old one, and found the crack in the top of the adjuster. All the bolts were tight the first time I messed with it.

I did a little research and apparently this has occurred on other Mitsubishi models, but the fix is not easy if the lower mount is worn. I'll have to take it apart soon to verify.

I appreciate you chiming in Fummins, as you probably have more experience than anyone with different Mirages. If anyone had seen this it would've been you.

    2021 Mirage
    Saturday morning 12/23
Performed 82,500 mile oil change at 83,000 miles.
3 qrt of ACDelco 0w20/ 6 oz Lucas low viscosity oil stab. / FL821 Motorcraft oil filter
Installed winter wiper blades on the front and filled washer fluid with standard blue -20F fluid.
Went to rotate the tires and found a bent rim on the right rear. Put it on the right front anyway and drove to Omaha for the Xmas holiday.
Slight vibration above 75 which I didn't surpass many times on the trip.
I will try to hammer it out probably at the next rotation and have it rebalanced.

2015 Mirage ES with about 98700 miles
    Change air filter on 12/28/2023

    Waited a bit too long
Seems the idle is smoother BUT I also changed the oil.
In the past changing the oil did not change the idle

I have had good luck pounding out rims with a 2x4 and a hammer. Good luck with the rim.
