I'm a big teddy bear 7miles. No need for firearms. I'm more of a high 5 type of fella. Granted we don't always agree on the issues but I agree that I like you and appreciate your insights. What a boring world it'd be if everyone I respected and admired had to agree with all my thoughts. I'm a rare bird in this polarized age, a true centrist with an olive branch in hand lol.
Ha! I'm more like a raging grizzly bear, at least when I'm asleep, so The Warden says. I wasn't completely clear about bringing the heat. I'm going to have a whole swat team hiding in the hatch of the Blueberry. I've accepted the fact that pretty close to 0% of the world's population agrees with my thoughts. I have accepted that I'm the odd duck. I could be this way from exposure to the inner workings of Hyundai-Kia.

Today i attempted to replace a serpentine belt but couldn't finish because i broke the alternator tension bolt. It's very rusty and seized. What a bummer, now i have to go hunting for alternator hardware bolts.
#6 is the bolt that snapped, and it's also seized in #8 from the diagram.

I have had that happen a time or two. It doesn't help that the bolt is tapered near the head.
If you wanted, you can just put it back together and use a pry bar on the alternator to snug up the belt. I've done that a few times when in a hurry. Then fix it "properly" when you have the parts.

Oil change again just after another 3k miles... Mostly because going into cooler temps, I want smooth idling up to operating temp.
Right, the tension bolt becomes tapered and skinny towards the head. Like this:
Ah good tip, that would work in a pinch. Here's the two bolts i need and their part numbers. In case anyone needs them:If you wanted, you can just put it back together and use a pry bar on the alternator to snug up the belt. I've done that a few times when in a hurry. Then fix it "properly" when you have the parts.
Just wrapping this up, i finally got my alternator bolts and finished my serpentine belt install. I really like how easy it is to change the belt!
I'd consider gobbing that bolt with some copper coat or even blue loctite(to seal the threads). I foresee that happening again. If you already did then nevermind.
