No. The lever has to be lifted and then turned. The lever is spring held in closed position. I have used the same Fumoto for the last 14 years, through 4 different vehicles. It has well over 500k miles on it. So no, I don't worry about it in the least. They do make safety clips in tandem with the valve if you're too worried.
Fumoto valves are awesome. Lots of fleets use them, construction equipment companies etc.. Quality product, not cheap but they are worth the $$. I had one in a previous vehicle and also one in a motorcycle. If you change your own oil it makes draining the oil a piece of cake and not messy.
