2005 Mazda3 with 200,000mi. Tried to keep her going, but an electrical issue was the final straw. I drive alot and needed cheap to maintain and drive. I own an outlander so this is the secondary vehcle.

Anyone remember "Cash for Clunkers" back in 2009? That's where my previous car came from. It was a 2009 Pontiac G5 XFE (same thing as a Chevy Cobalt XFE).
2009 was the perfect storm of Pontiac rebates...$4500 Cash for Clunkers...huge GM rebates...and big discounts because Pontiac was being terminated. That car had a sticker price of $17,500 and I paid $7,900 for it brand new. When was the last time you bought a new car for 55% off the sticker price?!?
Here it was on the day I bought it. The Crown Vic next to it was my 'clunker' trade-in. It had 214,000 miles on it and still looked/ran great...
I drove the G5 for 180,000 trouble-free miles and averaged 37.5 mpg.

What a score!!
The XFE Cobalt/G5's were interesting machines - GM hadn't done a special fuel economy version of one of its cars for a while. And they did indeed get good numbers.
Glad to hear it was a trouble-free experience too.

My dad has had 2 trucks since 1989. And only those 2 trucks. A 1989 Toyota 5spd 2wd pickup. A total base model. He ordered it like that. No rear bumper or right side mirror. No ac or radio haha. He drove that til 2003 when he bought a tacoma but the taco is access cab 4wd auto with options. He drive the 89 to 200k and just turned 200k on his taco.
Before those trucks he had the smoky and the bandit black trans am 1978. So 3 vehicles since 78 lmao.
Replaced the 02' Nissan Maxima. It was nice and strong. Didn't burn oil and I changed the oil every 4000 miles. I took dang good care of it. But commuting nearly 400 miles a week was seriously damaging my wallet. Installed some intake mods and an exhaust system. I do miss it sometimes but it was slowly 'falling apart' as the rust was slowly eating away parts underneath the car.
I'm just glad to be back in a Mitsubishi. My last 2 cars before the Maxima was a 96' Eclipse GSX and a 92' Galant VR4.

My Mirage replaced my 1992 Miata, which was my cheap summer commuter. The Miata was fun to drive and averaged 35 mpg, which was not bad, but it also required the maintenance that happens with a 25 year old car. I wanted something that got great mileage, was more year round friendly and new enough to not require constant maintenance. The Mirage is a suitable replacement...more of an appliance than a hobby. I'm okay with that.
