Even the search engine on White Bear's website shows 5 different Mirage transmission choices...

EPIC BAD 1st quarter sales: Canada

Yikes: only 194 Mirages sold in the 1st quarter! ~65 per month.

    https://www.mitsubishi-motors-pr.ca/...end-results-2/

That's the Mirage's worst quarterly sales performance ever.

What makes it even worse is that's with ZERO competition from the Nissan Micra -- it appears Nissan finally sold out its stock of leftover 2019's. It'll be interesting to see what happened with Spark sales here.

So much for the theory of higher gas prices goosing sales, at least in Canada.

Given the crap sales numbers in Canada, you'd think they'd be trying a little harder here, too.

This is what we're offered: cheap Mirage "rental" with free maintenance!

    US: 1st quarter rebound!

    6932 Mirage sales = 2310 per month.

    That's a whopping 49% increase over Q1 2020.

2020 was not a normal year in many respects, but the shut down of businesses didn't really start happening until March of 2020. It would be nice if the Mirage surpasses its 2019 numbers.

I know that I sound like a broken record, but if people knew these cars could be had for $11,000-13,000 OTD they would be more popular. When I see them listed for $15,000+, I start thinking used cars instead.

The Chevy Spark is going to go up in sales not only because less competition outside the brand, but the Spark will also benefit from lack of competition within the brand. Some people are loyal to GM. My dad is one of them.

The Sonic, Cruz, & Impala have all been dropped. If someone wants a new GM car, it's the Spark or Malibu. Thus, I would expect Spark sales to really jump this year. Small SUVs have become popular, but they aren't for everyone on a budget.

I agree. Looked up new Mirage ad's on the Kijiji for all of Alberta . There's only 5 new ones and the cheapest one is $18,000(cad).
Look up a new Spark and the cheapest list price is $10,000(again cad..) likely a bait and switch car but the next cheapest is still $5,000 less than the Mirage's at $12,000.

I actually see the occasional base ($10k MSRP) Spark on the GM lot here.

You'd think Mitsu would have learned from Nissan's success with the $10k Micra, and now GM's success with the $10k Spark, but they stubbornly insist on pricing the Mirage too high.

Mitsu effectively (and grudgingly) matched the Micra's price for a while with perma-rebates to bring the base Mirage's price within spitting distance of the Nissan's, but they never budged on MSRP. Their heart was never in it.

2 days ago you could buy a new Mirage at White Bear for $10,999. Now the cheapest 5-speed ES they have is $12,500. I can get a leftover Sonic for that kind of jack.

We all know the Mirage gets bashed by some critics, but some of that is related to pricing. The value of the car is lost by the MSRP attached to the car. Personally, I get that!

I've watched a number of reviews of the Micra, and the critics were not critical of the car. Instead, they recognized you were getting a brand new for $10,000. With that in mind, they were less of critical of what it didn't have & instead focused on what it did have for that price.

That's why I don't feel features really change the value of an economy car all that much. I think Mitsubishi even recognizes that. Despite 4-5 trim levels being offered since 2017, the range from the base to the top level has been within $2,000 (comparing CVT to CVT models). Even in 2020 when the SE is the only one that gets things like 15" alloy wheels, heated seats, and a few of the extra safety features (beyond brake assist for all models), its MSRP is only $1,900 more than the ES. Plus, there are two trim levels in between them.

I drove to Benton Harbor Michigan & back to Richland Center, Wisconsin today. 99% of that drive was interstate & state highways. I filled up in Benton Harbor, Michigan, and I made it back to RC (312.8 miles) on one tank. My last bar was flashing, but only it took 7.213 gallons to fill back up. That trip involved going through the Chicago area (a few stop & go traffic jam spots along the way), & I still managed to get 43.4 mpg on my way back home. Interstate roads for Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, & Michigan were all 70 mph, & I was doing 75 mph whenever possible. Temperature was only 31F in Benton Harbor when I left there, & I even drove through some snow flurries (road conditions remained good thankfully). Winds were a bit nasty at times.

If I am driving the 55 mph highway roads in my area, I am in the high 40's. Lower 40's when driving hard like today is still quite good in my mind. I really like the 5-speed manual powertrain in these cars. Yes, a slightly taller 5th gear would be nice, but I'm still impressed what these little 3-cylinder engines can do even at slightly higher RPMs.
