DIY: Install a 1000W circulating block heater & accessories / goodies

So basically you just removed the lower heater core hose than plug the output of the coolant heater to the block and the input to the lower core heater?

So now the electrical heater is in serie with your heater core?

i would like to install one, just wanted to make sure I understood correctly...

I finally managed to install a 1500w zerostart I had laying around in a similar location.

Since I like to take things a step further I'll look into having the hvac blower working while the heater is on. It could take 2-3 hours of running time on a cold morning but I would have a hot engine and a hot cabin....

1500 watts is the same output of the block heaters I installed in the 14L Detroit Diesels we had when I worked for Fleet Maintenance for a local Transport & Moving company. You won't have to sweep the snow from the car with that thing!!! Some of our Long Haul units had set-ups like what you want so the drivers were warm when sleeping, but they where actually small diesel powered units with little circulating pumps.. http://www.proheat.com/trucks/x30/index.html You probably won't need 2 hours. It gets quite chilly in here, often in winter it takes about 2kwh to fully warmup the interior of our tesla using resistive heater so it will probably takes as much for the mirage, will check out an electronics store today to purchase a couple of relays.

They started using them around 2021...

My old model 3 2020 was resistive heater only, it was an electricity pig when temps were low..
My new 2022 with heatpump and lfp battery always amaze me if I compare it to the old one...
