    Grinding noise from front wheel

    Hi,

Is this grinding noise when turning front passenger side disk normal? https://youtube.com/shorts/D3k_Yvacm...Y9FJ2IR-CpaCuC

The other side doesn't do it. Thanks.

    Mike

That’s the tin backing plate running on the back of the rotor. Just pry it away slightly where it’s rubbing.

Thanks for the advice. The reason I had the wheel off is a stone got caught between backing plate and disk and it was making a horrendous grinding noise.

I didn't notice backing plate touching the brake rotor (but I only looked from the top). I will take a closer look tommorow.

You can sometimes reach around without taking the wheel off and just feel around the bottom and rear of the rotor and pull it a little where it feels like there’s less of a gap.
It’s relatively common if you grab the backing plate to turn the spindle with the wheel off. If that makes sense?
