Behold! The 2019 Mirage LE! Although they do not appear on Mitsubishi's own website they are arriving at dealerships. The dealership has it misidentified as a Mirage GT, but I pulled the Monroney on it.

The LE trim level gives you a standard CVT transmission & fancy wheels. Do those two items alone justify a jump of about $2000 in price (ES to LE trim levels)? I think that is the basic question a person will need to ask themselves. My guess is the ES model with a CVT is somewhere in the middle.

Since the 2019 ES trim level now has cruise control & height adjustable driver's seat, the fancy wheels may be one of the only differences between the between the ES and LE trim levels. The ES level is also the only level that offers the choice of manual or CVT transmissions.

It appears the ES trim level has 14" steel wheels. The other 3 trim levels are 175/55r15 wheels.

Outside a CVT transmission being standard on the LE trim level, you have to wonder what else the LE trim level is giving you besides nicer alloy wheels? More importantly does that alone justify the added jump in cost?

My first preference with any small car is a manual transmission. Thus, I would be stuck buying an ES model. Personally, I think the 2019 ES trim level is a nice package. I wouldn't think twice about using the steel wheels as my winter/snow tires and upgrading to some nicer alloy wheels in the future. If you were going to run two sets of tires anyways, adding an after market set of alloy wheels to an ES model isn't really going to cost you all that much.

Car.com & others sources are listing the details of each trim level. I can't say that I have looked at them that closely, but first glance doesn't show much of a difference between the ES & LE other than the fancy wheels.

Exactly...especially now that it comes with cruise control.

Looks like the LE also gets you heated seats and some flashy color-keyed interior appointments...

I'll just take a 5-speed and keep the $2K in my pocket.

From this car's Monroney sticker, the LE has the following additional features:

    Limited Edition Features
    INCLUDED

-6.5” Smartphone Link Display Audio (SDA)
    system

-Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ compatibility

    -15-inch black alloy wheels

-Black fabric seating with red accent surfaces

    -Driver’s seat armrest

    -Heated front seats

    -Leather-wrapped steering wheel

    -Leather-wrapped shift knob

-Red stitched steering wheel and shift knob

    -Steering wheel voice controls

    -Red interior panel accents

    -Gloss black shift panel

    -Black side-view mirrors

    -Limited Edition badge

Personally, I think the LE screams "boy-racer". Which is probably the whole point.

Agreed. But I don't remember Vin Diesel driving a car with a CVT...
