Not Bad so far: 46.5 MPG (580 miles in my first week)

With 580 miles on her in my first week... I am impressed. You know you read all these stupid reviews about lack of power, body roll, and all that jazz. I mean really. What on earth do they think they are reviewing. The Mirage is not a race car. Here is proof...

My Mirage isn't a Ferrari speed or other wise but I find the 5 speed pretty peppy for what it is. The car is so light and the motor you can rev it up good.. so really if you are in a bind, you can get out of it downshifting. I get the same great MPG fuel economy

I believe most reviewers are really spoiled on the cars they review and they look at the mirage and immediately judge the car. Of course it isn't a $45,000 car. The mirage is definitely a very niche car. It's also possibly the best 'new' car for under $10,000. Around my town, you can get one off the lot for under $10,000. I believe there are a few 17' models going for under $10k too.

also, EVERY day I notice plenty of cars 'struggling' to get onto highways speeds on the on ramp when the highway is super clear.

It doesn't matter how fast your car can accelerate if you don't push the gas down far enough...

But seriously, most vehicles (except large heavy trucks (semis)) can easily reach at least minimum speed on the average on ramp.

Since I have only had my car for 1 week, 90% of it's miles are coming from Highway driving. I will be over 600 by tonight when I get home. I have had no issues reaching hwy speed. Changing lanes or getting around semi's.. I do very much keep in mind it is not my Giant V8 AMC Javelin, so I take that into account. I have no issues with it being a bit puttsy. It is getting 46 mpg!!

Glad to hear that you are enjoying your new Mirage. If you drive 600 miles per week, you'll appreciate this car. I've had my 2017 Mirage ES (manual) for almost one year now, & I have been very happy with it. I seem to be averaging between 45-50 mpg all summer. During the winter months, it seemed to average around 40-45 mpg. Even though I don't keep precise records, I am pretty certain it averages out somewhat in the middle of those two ranges. I drive mine pretty much stock, except adding a Daox rear sway bar. I also lost a Dunlop tire to a sidewall blow out @ about 15,000 miles. At the moment, I am using a pair of 165/65r14 Federal tires along with a pair of the original Dunlop tires. I've not really noticed any difference in mpg.

It's a great little economy car, & it should be judged as such. I like the little 3-cylinder engine! It's affordable, economical, & seems very reliable. The great warranty is a nice perk, too! Over the years, I've owned three cars that had less hp than the Mirage. For its size and weight, it's fine. You just shift the darn thing & it goes!!!

Way nice gas saver, thats for sure. Around my town, gas (87 oct) is around $2.89 a gallon. So, it's nice to have a much smaller tank as well. Only downside is that I'm beginning to see lower total gas mileage because of the cold weather.

Consider dealing with this by using a grill block, a warm air intake, and an engine block heater. They are no replacement for warm weather, but they'll help.

In the winter months my Mirage gets close to or around 39/40 mpg. Then in the summer around 45+ to 50 mpg (No A/C car 5 speed manual).

That's about 4.5 L/100kms summer to just shy of 6 L /100 kms winter in Canadian litres to US gallon.

I figure takes more energy to pull any car ahead down the road in the winter, and I tend to keep my car at a lower gear higher rpm in the winter too. More concerned with the weather and getting better traction however possible

Every cold or not fully warmed-up engine uses very much more fuel. Your cabin heater on full blast makes it worse. You may consider blocking 80-90% of the grill in winter, that helps a lot and costs practically nothing. There are a few threads to "grill block" here.

DIY cheap removable partial grill block
    DIY Choroplast grill block

With winter tyres mounted, winter handling is comparatively good, as long as you are not plowing through knee high snow.
