I have a relative who has a Tiago. It's been a great car for him. It's almost identical in size and his also has a 1.2L 3 pot. Definitely similar but not the same.

It doesn't have the flappy door handles.

I've never seen a Tiago before, but it has a nice appearance overall. It does look similar to the Mirage.
The 175/65r14 tires in the ad caught my attention. I have nothing against 165/65r14 tires being skinny or small. Major U.S. tire companies just don't carry that size, and that is annoying. 175/65r14 would be so much better. Most U.S. tire companies carry that size. The tire size that Mitsubishi is sending to the U.S. market is lame.
When I refer to U.S. tire companies, I am not referring to tires made in the United States. I am just referring to tire companies we are familiar with & have used for decades. I also realize many forum members have switched to 175/65r14 tires with no issue. I don't blame them either.
Rear end and doors looks like Honda Brio.
Another nice looking small car! Those cars never make it to the U.S., & that is sad! Instead, Honda is bringing back the Passport to the U.S. Do we really need another SUV on the market from Honda? It's really becoming quite sad! When gas prices jump and they will some day, Americans are going to look foolish with all their large expensive pickup trucks and SUVs.
It's going to be like the housing market crash in miniature. Expensive vehicles that no one wants to buy or own. If you can't pay off a car in a couple years, you probably bought to much vehicle. Many are doing that!!!!
Our small car options in the United States are somewhat limited. Ford's decision to drop most of their of car models is an indication of where the U.S. seems to be headed. I think Ford's decision to drop cars may come back to bite them some day. At the same time, many of the more modern crossover vehicles are nothing more than glorified station wagons & hatchbacks. Mini-vans, which are very practical in many ways, got stereo-typed into being "soccer mom vehicles". Thus, it wasn't cool to drive one. Silly, but true!
I appreciate Mitsubishi bringing the Mirage to the U.S. market. Outside of the Chevy Spark, the Mirage has a little niche of its own. It's nice to see the Mirage holding its own despite the criticism of the car critic snobs. Since the Mirage competes with other cars at the world level, I hope Mitsubishi continue to improve it as a competitive small car. I hope it doesn't evolve into another CUV or SUV. We have plenty of those already. Although the U.S. market is being driven by larger more expensive vehicle, it's really nice to have a small economy car option like the Mirage.
