Wait...an auto publication calling the Mirage a 'winner'??

Gotta scroll to the bottom. These are cars that recorded sales increases in segments that were down across the board.

It's an easy article to write if the focus is solely on sales numbers.

Gotta love clickbait journalism. At least they don't waste a lot of time bashing the Mirage.

I think the entire statement (see below) is quite neutral and sort of right on. I especially like the sentence I made bold.

Some who claim to be car people (critics) do share their hatred for this car. Sadly, the next sentence that should be written is never there - "Overall, those who own/drive this little are quite happy with it being cheap, reliable, & very economical!"

I don't have a problem with others making fun of its low horsepower either. If they said, we were drawn to its high horsepower that would be untruthful! It's a nice little car for what it is! That's what I like about it!

It's nice to know Mitsubishi had a good year, & our little Mirage has contributed to that!!!!

    Mitsubishi Mirage
The car people love to hate seems to be getting the last laugh. Clearly, cheap cars have a place in our landscape and, truth be told, it would be a crime if the segment died. Many people are persuaded by low, low entry prices, and the Mirage is all about low price — and horsepower. Quips aside, it was a good year for the Mirage hatch and sedan. December sales volume rose 71 percent, year over year, helping the model finish the year with an 8.8 percent volume increase. Last year, Mitsubishi enjoyed its best sales showing since 2007.

I would love to see very a basic small pickup that was dependable but also very affordable. Eliminate all the bells and whistles, because those truck already exist here. Our small pickup trucks have evolved into medium size trucks. Offer a small truck that actually looks like a truck and has a frame to haul or pull something. We don't need something that looks like an old "El Camino". Give us something that was more like the old S10, Ranger, Mighty Max or Jeep Comanche.

Nice article on fun little trucks of our past (Dodge Ram 50 is a Mighty Max cousin by the way) -

but they could build the truck here. Toyota Camry may be one of the most American built car in the U.S

I do get what you are saying, however. It prevents what already exists in other parts of the world being brought here.

I don't mind the El Camino look. There are many unibody minitrucks sold in countries other than the US. Side note: I once saw a 2-door Geo Metro that had been turned into a tiny flatbed truck! YES on the Mighty Max Mirage!!!!
