You mean recognize it as a USB storage device? I don't think my '15 ES ever recognized my Galaxy S6. Or maybe it did, but I had to set my phone to "USB Mode". I don't remember, because I just used Bluetooth to connect it anyway. Does your car have that? If not, you might consider adding it. There is an OEM kit.
No I cant afford bluetooth. But I will try your other advice aboit checking my phone abilities.
I got the lil phone knob volume control but dont see a microphone.
Yes if it even has one.
The Bluetooth controls installed on DEs will be down to the left of the steering wheel near the traction control button. The ES has them on the left side of the steering wheel. A "hands-free phone device" is mandatory on all new cars in some states...like mine...but not all of them. At least, not in 2014.
The 2017 Mirage ES trim level has the Bluetooth controls on the dash like the earlier 2014-15 base models, because it's considered an option (not standard equipment). My Mirage came with two options installed (Bluetooth & center armrest). My steering wheel has no buttons of any sort, & my Bluetooth is also mounted near the traction control button.
If you don't have this button on the dash, you most likely don't have Bluetooth. Many 2017 ES models still didn't have Bluetooth. Bluetooth became standard equipment (along with the backup cameras) in all Mirages in 2018. Since I bought a highly discounted 2017 Mirage ES (manual) while the 2018 models were already appearing, I took a close look at the difference. Bluetooth (with steering wheel buttons) became standard equipment in 2018. Prior to that, any base level Mirage that has Bluetooth as an added option would have the button on the dash. If you don't have that button, your Mirage doesn't have Bluetooth installed.

I see. Thank you for the explanation!
