Sounds like they are pulling back from expanding too much in the U.S....that's too bad, but better to not over-extend financially.

Couple of interesting quotes from that article...
Mitsubishi CEO Osamu Masuko said that the automaker would accept slower sales growth by easing the pace of expansion in ASEAN countries and growth markets of China and the United States in the coming years to ensure sustained profitability.Masuko said that he would resist relying on discounting and fleet sales to grow overall sales, a strategy which has stung partner Nissan in the United States.

There is also Mitsubishi's Fuso truck division. I never see them on the road, or their dealerships in Ontario, but I was out west this past week in Alberta. I got lost in the new city driving my unlimited miles rental Hyundai Santa Fe in Edmonton. And I actually drove past a Fuso dealership. Said only "Fuso" with the red 3 diamond logo above, for the signage on the building.
They had like 50 used Fuso trucks on the property, different types, medium-sized utility trucks.
Two doors down from a Peterbilt dealer.
Mitsubishi/Nissan is having a problem like Fiat Chrysler has now that they lost Sergio Marchionne at the helm. Both Ghosn and Marchionne, big dreamers and from the sounds of it personalities.

What I dont understand is if Mitsubishi Industries is so huge, why would they allow Nissan, just a car company, to own so much of its motors division?
It's a long story.
A lot of it has to do with business decisions which at the moment were sound. Later on, market forces brought about some bad outcomes of those decisions and really changed the company's fortunes.
I hope there is an article around the internet somewhere that covers the hardships Mitsubishi Motors has endured. In a way, I'm a bit surprised they're still around. And glad.

Im guessing they are still around because their global presence is massive and theyre Japan's oldest and largest multicorporation, hence to big to fail? Ive never concerned myself with Mitsubishi going away like Suzuki. I was at my bank's atm and noticed the tri diamond logo on the machine. I also noticed the symbol on the AC units of aforementioned bank building. They make everything it seems.
I feel like Goshen the Nissan executive who pulled alot of strings for Renault, Nissan, and Mitsubishi should do the honorable thing of a failed Japanese business executive and commit seppuku. lol kiddin
