48 psi is like 13 psi over the manuafcturer's recommended of 35 psi... so
You sure your tire pressure isn't too high? That's what 30% higher psi than the owner's manual for the Mirage recommends, not the tiny 5 psi over you think you're at. Tires and fuel economy are definitely related things.
Plus you must have one bumpy ride, ever driven a truck with solid rubber tires?
