Because the overwhelming number of Altima owners dont experience premature cvt failure, hell most probably dont even know theyre driving a cvt, hence the failures because they didnt take care of them in the first place. This would be front page news, considering millions of Americans own Nissans.
Yikes:

The Japanese version of GM, Ford, & Chrysler has been Toyota, Honda, & Nissan.
Fiat hasn't improved Chrysler's image.
Renault hasn't improved Nissan's image.
Those views seem somewhat justified, too!
I have a friend that always says, "Sewers always suck down, never up!" If you hang with the wrong crowd, they are most likely going to drag you down with them. Merge with an inferior company - guess what might happen?
I think we should blame all this on Scotty Kilmer! A day seldom goes by without Scotty bashing Fiat-Chrysler & Renault-Nissan.
On a more serious note: It really comes down to leadership. Most things start at the top whether we want to admit it or not. If you read any automotive news at all, it's quite apparent Nissan has had major leadership issues. It's not a surprise this company is struggling. It lacks direction!
If I was in the market for a small car, SUV, hybrid, pickup truck, etc..., I wouldn't even bother visiting a Nissan showroom. Unless things change soon, I see Hyundai/KIA surpassing Nissan. Combined (Hyundai/KIA) aren't that far behind them already.
