The plastic nut gave up on me yesterday morning. Good thing I was just about to accelerate from full stop when it happened. Clutch cable was intact, which was a relief.
I always had a pack of cable ties with me for this kinds of scenario, so i was able to hold the nut back in place with a series of cable ties. I wasn't expecting the nut to fail and loose its thread so soon.
Now I'm looking at getting a pair of steel nuts in place of the plastic one, the other steel nut to keep the adjustment in place. I just have to figure out what thread size and pitch i need for it.
Edit: My mirage is 3 years old, and has 32k miles on it.
