Best speakers for the original head unit with navi

Hi, any recommendations for speaker upgrade? I know I need some adapters and the size is 6 1/2 (16.5 cm). I like the good brands like JBL, Sony or Pioneer.

    Thanks :-)

    I put in Pioneers.

You'll get lots of recommendations maendu. This is one of the easy modifications. I'm sure others will chime in soon with their experiences.

Yes, but sometimes I wish I spent a little more for a better quality speaker. My rationale at the time was to look for value-priced speakers that match a value-priced economy car.

I think you have a smart head on your shoulders for attempting to just upgrade the speakers and keep the factory head unit. I wish i had done the same but instead I installed and amp + a Pioneer touch screen head unit and the upgraded the speakers all at the same time.

And it cost me over $600 and in reality I am not that happy with it. On my first attempt I went ULTRA CHEAP and bought those Boss branded speakers that are I think $19.99 for a set of 4. But I rode a 50cc scooter over to take them to the car stereo shop and they fell off the back of the scooter and got run over by other cars. Then I had to buy speakers from the car stereo shop and they charged me $75 for pioneer speakers that where $30 on Amazon.

I think those Polk branded ones on Amazon get the most reliable consistent reviews.

I'm not a big car audio guy, so forgive me if this is a dumb question. If I just replace the speakers, will the overall volume be louder? I would assume not as the head unit isn't putting out any more power. I actually don't mind the OE sound, I just want some more volume.

    This is just my opinion:

I think replacing speakers is a good place to start. If the new speakers don't suit your needs, then more power is called for. At which time there are better speakers in place to deliver the increased power.

Some speakers are more efficient than others, and more efficient at certain frequencies.

I really think the Rockford Fosgate amplifier kit for the Mirage is one of the better options going.
