Autotrader.ca Review: Used Mitsubishi Mirage, 2014-2018

I just stumbled across this: https://www.autotrader.ca/expert/201...age-2014-2018/ Not sure if it's been posted here or not but there are a bunch of references to this forum. I wonder if the author is a member or just got bored?

THAT'S A really well written review pointing out the good and the bad about our little cars. And the take away from that is much of the world has missed the point about the Mirage. brand.new.car.ownership.for.less.money.than.used.

Seriously, only a retard would drop Mirage money on a used car. A $10 grand luxury car would be a decade or more in age with high kms. A comparable compact would certainly be newer but likely very high kms.

Very high kms mean nothing if the car was serviced and has documentation or is there is still a warranty and all TSBs have been applied.

I feel this is a good review of the Mirage. If I needed to replace my Mirage, I would focus on used 2017-19 Mirages with low mileage. The 5-year/60,000 mile bumper-to-bumper warranty reduces some of the risk involved with buying a used Mirage. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a used 2017-19 ES manual. Doing a 200 mile radius search on cars.com today, I see deals like these -

    All ES manuals -
    2018 ES for $8,400 @ 32,170 miles (171 miles away)
    2018 ES for $8,989 @ 35,611 miles (175 miles away)
    2018 ES for $8955 @ 22,028 miles (188 miles away)
    2019 ES for $9,996 @ 9,527 miles (175 miles away) - White Bear
    2018 ES for $9,999 @ 14,494 miles (164 miles away)

    Meanwhile -
2018 ES for $15,999 @ 19,664 miles (54 miles away) - my local Mad City Mitsubishi dealer - idiots!

I don't presently see a new Mirage ES manual for under $15,000 within 200 miles today, & I wouldn't pay that much money for a Mirage. Other good deals may exist, but it would require more searching on my part.

I think I might have posted that one a while back, but no foul.

It was cool to see he spent time here reading about the car.

I read this review when it came out whenever ago. Used car review of the Mirage on Auto Trader Canada. Fairly balanced. The guy even quotes the mirageforum right in the review. That's funny.

Weirdly, the US Auto trader literally has an official review of the Mirage, by none other than Doug DeMuro, who even does episodes with Leno now.. so is that famous.

Anyway Doug DeMuro, he just trashes the Mirage. Super negative about the "worst car you can buy new"... Typically bombastic, and misses the point of the Mirage. People who miss the point, wouldn't want to drive a 1954 Porsche 356, either.

I saw a Porsche 356 convertible just once on the road, just last year, outside Jasper, Alberta, driving within sight of Pyramid Mountain.

Anyways, the review you posted there Fummins is wrong with the whistling sound being a wheel issue or defect. Yes the Mirage has had wheel alignment issues, and yes the Mirage makes a whistling sound at speed.. they're not related however as an issue, but maybe could be in some circumstances. The whistling thing is the engine with the rpm high, wind noise at max levels, and overall tincan Mirage economy car thing going on. My Mirage is actually good in snowy rural Ontario roads like in the winter at night. With Great Lakes snow squalls compared to a lot of cars I think. I want AWD but snowblindness is the same in every car.
