    5 year ownership report

I'm not on here much anymore, but Monday was the 5-year car anniversary (carversary?) of owning my 2015 Mirage. I thought I'd give a boring report of how it has gone.

    It has gone: Boringly well.

I'm at 49,6XX miles. My commute was 5 miles, then 2 years ago, switched to 3 miles. We've used the car for vacations, hence the "high miles" for a short commuter. Engine-wise, I've only had to do oil and filter changes. I've used Mobil 1 the whole time. Still averaging 39-42mpg average, even with mostly city driving. 5 speed manual. I did change out the transmission fluid at about 20k, just for fun. I think I used Redline, or whatever was highly recommended here.

Factory tires were going bald (and one had a bubble) about 18 months ago, so I got Vredestein tires from TireRack. They're great, still. Starting uphill in the rain/snow still gets a little tire slippage, but that could just be my clutch foot.

My TPMS sensor died about 3-4 months after the tires were changed. I feel it rattle around in the tire when I rotate tires. I've been too lazy to deal with it. I just keep checking the air.

I've got a ScanGauge, but my OBDII port (or the OBDII cable) is flakey so it doesn't work very often. Not sure if it's the cable or the port, so can't fault Mitsubishi there.

Long story short, the car has been everything I hoped it would be: Economical and reliable. I'm not picky, I just need to get from A to B.

Nice report, I'm at 6 years of Mirage ownership as of this month actually.

Kinda boring car you are right lol, but does the job as you wanted.

I've been dealing with this issue lately myself. It's not the cable or the ScanGauge. The style of female OBDII port pins aren't that great on the factory OBDII connector. After you've plugged something into the OBDII port a few times, the connection can become unreliable...

One of these solved my problem...and it reduces wear and tear on the fragile factory connector...

EDIT - I will probably start a dedicated thread on this topic later.
