    oil consumption at 90k miles

I did a quick calculation, and found my car uses close to 830ml of oil in 7500 miles. It was closer to 750ml recently, but I have been running it around 3k rpm's (cvt) cruising, since we have lots of hills and lots of tailgaters.
My conclusion is that higher rpm's = higher pressure = slightly elevated oil usage.
Seems about right for 90k miles, thought I'd ask and see how others were doing. I'm going to go back to driving slower next week, and ignoring tailgaters. Will see if oil consumption drops.

With how little oil you're using your not going to be able to notice the difference just next week, but I agree it should be lower. Empirically I came to the conclusion that the rate of oil burning loosely tracked mpg.

    That's 14,500 km/litre. Not bad at all.

You're right, I didn't word that correctly. I meant to say I'll keep the rpm's down starting next work week (I use the car for work only), check it in a month and report my findings.
It's interesting, I really never thought much about rpm affecting oil consumption, but it makes sense.
    Thanks for the reply!

If you push X amount past the seals each cycle, then you'll push 4000×X past the seals at 4000 RPM, or n×X at nRPM –more or less depending on pressures, temperatures, and oil viscosity.

Because the RPM can change independently from vehicle speed almost infinitely, the amount of oil which squeezes by more closely follows gas mileage than mileage alone...although technically the direct correlation is to total engine cycles, recording that would probably be impractical by comparison. Mine started doing the same thing about 90k. Figured it was par for the course...especially for a Mitsubishi!

Have you checked to see if the PCV valve is dirty or clogged? I need to order one for my red 15... just angry that it's dealer only and it's $50! That's the most expensive PCV valve I've ever seen in my life...

No, I haven't checked it. Thanks, I'll look at it.
$50? I'll try to clean it first
Coincidentally, mine is a red '15 also.

BTW, how many miles do you have on yours?

The red 15 ES just hit 90,000 miles yesterday.

Ok, we've got the same miles. Did you take your pcv valve out to confirm it's bad? Thanks.
If I find the part cheaper than $50 I'll let you know.
