    Anything beats this offer/question...

What's the least you'll take for it?

offering 4k isnt bad especially since you have it at 4,600. A few years ago, I was trying to sell my 92' Galant VR4 for $5k and getting $3k offers. Now, I just regret selling it lol

Yeah, it's crazy but it's happened to me and my brother while trying to sell his Civic. :/ It was a super strange question. Then, we also go the "are the coilovers adjustable?" question as well. (sighs). I am all for teaching/educating anyone if they need the help but it's also very strange when you actually hear it. Everyone starts somewhere where but we ain't selling the car for cheaper because we don't want the wheels, haha!

^ I've had that before. Someone wanting dozens of pics and details... "VERY INTERESTED!" Waste of time.

I generally ignore long-distance inquries too, especially on cheap stuff. But I'm glad not everybody brushes off people from far away, because I've driven many hours to buy cheap, unloved cars!

    ---

What's the least you'll take for it?
I haven't had that one yet. A good response might be: "Probably about a thousand more than your highest price!"

    ---

I replied: I'll go $4k "as is" or $4200 if they want me to look after getting the inspection done. (Ontario cars have to pass mechanical inspection every time ownership changes.) I'm sure it needs nothing to pass, and inspected cars are more desirable.

They gotta see it first. How can anyone bargain down the price without seeing it? Plus it's a young listing. If you're not in a hurry to move it, you can wait for your price.

True - I don't need to sell the car. The main advantage is one less car clogging up my garage & driveway! And it's just a matter of time before I find another one (cheap base model FTW!). I really don't want to own two at the same time, but I could see it happening.

I always talk price before going to see cars that are far away. We negotiated the final price of the Mirage before I went to Toronto to see it.

At the very least I would just ask: "is your price negotiable?" People almost always say yes to that.

If someone is considering your car from a distance away, I totally understand discussing price first. Someone who lives nearby is a different story.

If they were told you would take $4000/$4200 for it, I would be prepared to part ways with it for that price.

If they decide they don't want the car for the pre-negotiated price, it's a long ride home without it. If they offer to pay you the $4,200, it wouldn't be cool to change your mind then. Since you have it out there, a buyer has to assume you are ready to let it go.

It's more fun shopping for things than spending money on them. Thus, all the dead-end inquiries sometimes!
