The Queens 2017 Subaru legacy has as of today 230000ish kms on the CVT & it works fine. I'm not worried as if there was a large failure rate, many companies would stop using them...Most companies are into this gig for the profit, & a lot of CVT failures would cut into that. You will always have failures in anything that is made in volume, but I think the odds are in the consumers favor... Just thoughts...

I didn't know what to do, so I didn't do anything

Some companies like Mazda have decided to not use them. If I needed to buy a new vehicle, I would look at Mazda first. Just speaking for myself.

Its a toss up. We got the unicorn 400k mile Mirage and some failures @ 100k + miles. If you can get 200k miles out of your Mirage, consider yourself lucky.

Yeah, you hope lol. Fummins is avg a 10% cvt failure rate out of his fleet of 30ish Mirages. We're just rolling the dice.

Seems like the real reason these CVT break is that they're simply not designed strong enough for the vehicles that they're put in. The mirage is so weak it holds up fine.

Exactly. I'm so happy I did my research BEFORE I bought my Mirage (here mostly) and figured that this Jatco CVT was a good fit for THIS car. Sadly Jatco+Nissan isn't a great combo overall and it tarnishes an otherwise decent CVT simply by putting it in cars that are way too much for the poor little thing to handle. Happily we don't have to worry about it

If only there was a report or an article online describing the % of CVT owners getting 200k miles out of their transmission.

For what its worth i've known 3 altima / maxima owners with cvt they've all failed under 100k miles. One failed at 85km!
