Post Crank No start flooded engine, being retarded is tough

today when i started the car i let go of the key too early and the engine immediately died. doing what any great idiot would do i immediately tried to start it again. That didnt work. Then i tried to do the flood start mode thing by holding the gas pedal down before cranking also no luck(this is video 1). Then i waited two minutes and tried again. this time i held the gas pedal all the way down then half way down, then with the gas pedal half way depressed it started(this is video two). i dont actually know how flood start mode works so im not sure if fully depressed vs half depressed makes a difference.

On a side note for what i believe is the OEM battery this did about of great cranking in minus 14c weather, i wish i had bought the push to start model.

I should probably start cranking for a little longer, i know the starter is suppose to have some over rev/over crank fail safe thingy but i always try to let go of the key faster.

I also tried to drive off with the steering wheel lock shown in the video still attached. This was the day i got the covid booster shot so this is probably just the autism setting in.

Had you said my engine has an "intellectual disability" I would not have been offended.

I had to think about that one, because I drive my parent's push button start vehicle at times. Push button start is a pretty mindless procedure. No skill required! Even a child could do it! We've come a long way from my first car that still had a hand choke button to pull out from the dash.

I still have 12 engines that still require me to manipulate a hand choke to get them all started. I had to make a list, because I didn't realize it was that many.
    2 - ATVs
    3 - chainsaws
    1 - riding lawnmower
    1- grass trimmer
    1- log splitter
    1- small boat motor
    1 -pressure washer
    1 - rototiller
    1- UTV

I'm not including my two push mowers with bulb primers and diesel tractor with glow plugs.

If everything had push button start, life would become so boring! There would no sense of accomplishment when that stubborn chainsaw finally takes off! I could sit here & tell you how every choke on every one of those machines responds differently. They all have an identity of their own. It would be sad to see them all lose that!

I seriously think an electric vehicle would bore me to death. I'd rather walk!

These cars HATE being started for a few seconds, shut off, then restarted. I am sure cold weather makes it worse, but I have had it happen a half a dozen or so times in different types of weather.

Just a quirk of these cars.

    Hello cobrajet,
I think you are misunderstanding what i wrote, i didn't intend to shut it off. I simply didnt crank for long enough causing it to immediately die out.

Your snowblower doesn't have a bulb primer and a choke?

Did you smell any fuel/petrol when you're car flooded?

I don't own a snowblower. I plow snow with my a 48" blade on my ATV.

I use a snowblower to help out a friend in town, & it has both the bulb primer & choke. It belong to them, however.

I don't miss carburetors on cars! Every 1970s/1980s small car I owned had major carburetor issues. I've never had an issue with fuel injectors.
