They could pull the ole " We are so sorry! Turns out that car was sold yesterday, but we can take that check and put it down on a new $35k Nissan Outlander!" Lol

Not into fake British accents. Or British accents. Or British. My male ancestry is all Irish. My mindset leans more I.R.A.

You're probably on your way there, or there, perhaps pissed off, or on your way back by now. Hoping it went smooth with no games from them. I worked my deal for my blueberry in mostly the exact way as you're working your deal. I showed up with a cashier's check for the amount we agreed to, and the dealer sent me a bunch of pictures. My salesman was a saleswoman. I think females in such a position are less likely to play games. My saleswoman was THE BEST. I'd choose her over a salesMAN any day.

The last time I helped someone with a new car deal, the sales guy was great and the price was dead on. But the dealership insisted on running us through the Finance Office even though it was a cash deal. Basically, they wanted to hit us with the dog and pony show of add-ons. I was actually interested to see all the BS they would offer. I'll try to remember everything they offered...but it amounted to something like $5,000 over the price of the car (which was a new Honda Pilot in the mid 30's)...

    • Extended Vehicle Warranty
    • Paint Protection
    • Interior Protection
    • Tire Road Hazard Warranty
    • Wheel Damage Warranty
    • Windshield Protection Warranty
    • Anti-theft "VIN etching" package
    • Floor liners (like Weathertech mats)

I think maybe there was even one I missed. It was so ridiculous I was having a hard time keeping a straight face...until they got to the end and dropped that huge number on us. I'll never sit through anything like that again but I was glad I exposed myself to it. I wish I would have asked for all of that in writing because it would have been a great learning tool to post.

The paperwork on my Mirage was completely wrong, except the final OTD price was dead on. The salesman claimed two cars were being processed at the same time, & thus the error.

Thankfully, the car in my driveway was correct, but the paperwork had the vin # of a different car on it. Everything was wrong on it (color wasn't even right). So there sits a salesman & another employee who followed in the salesman's Outlander Sport at my kitchen table with the wrong paperwork (approximately 4 hour drive from their dealership).

They left my Mirage & headed back home. The correct paperwork was sent via express mail with an postage paid return envelope that I had to sign & send back to them. I believe the only number that match on the correct paperwork was the final OTD price. How they got to that price was done entirely differently, which I found interesting.

White Bear never asked about adding extras to my Mirage during the transaction. That's was a first! I kept expecting a surprise during the deal, & there were none.

Dirk - I really hope things go smoothly today! Look forward to hearing all about it!

Most bald-faced scam I ever saw at a dealership: friend called and got an "out the door price" over the phone for a mid-trim Micra. He was shopping for a cheap car for his father in-law.

He says, "that's a good price. I'll take it. I'm on my way in & will be paying cash."

When he gets there, the contract is all written up, the sales guy is going down the list of costs, and then says "OOPS... I forgot to add the shipping fee. That'll be another $1200 please."

    Friend walked.

Dirk - You should name it The Strawberry. Or The Cherry. You'd have a Strawberry and I have a Blueberry. We could meet up with our fruity cars!
