Same here. Not paying this retard for his useless opinions. He owes the Mirage community every cent he ever made for his totally wrong ramblings
Zero, 2014 ES Plus 5MT, written off but not forgotten.
Zero II, 2014 SE, 5MT, climate She's HOME now!
Shelby AKA "Cute", 2017 ES 5MT, A/C.
Mirage owners look at the world differently than everyone else, but in a better way
We're driving the Beetle of the 21st century, the greatest small car now available!

It's funny because the first video my family watched when we got home from the dealer was his original video on the mirage. We only had the car for a few hours but we could tell it was some over exaggerated crap for views and clicks.

No need to feel bad. Most of us already know Doug DeMuro is a worthless car snob & not much more.
He stuck his neck out 6-7 years ago on the Mirage, and his pride or stupidity isn't going to allow that to change. It's amazing how many cars have disappeared since he made his bold claims, & yet the Mirage is still around today.

I thought of (and perhaps we've even discussed it here before) a breeeeelliant idea for Mitsubishi. If they wanted to save MEEEEELLIONS, and pocket TREEEEELLIONS, they could sort of copy the way Toyota is doing (at least some of) their hybrids now. Seems they put the electric motor somewhere in the vicinity either on the output side of the engine or the output side of the trans (I forget). Now this is from my memory, I'd have to go read about it again to see how wrong I am.
Just imagine that Mitsubishi does this as clean and simply to the Mirage as possible. They add a non-plug in hybrid motor in the spot as mentioned.
The result being (just an estimate) a 100 hp, 3-cylinder engine (carry over engine, extra power is from the motor) that gets a 60 mpg rating!
The car never really gets the beat down on its looks. I mean yea, since idiots like Decrapo are already beating on it, they go ahead and beat on how it looks too. But it's the 78 hp that scares the crap out of everyone, and leads to the thinking that it is low quality (which we know it is NOT low quality, just low cost low power).
Just spend money to develop the powertrain, make changes to the body (maybe in the vicinity of the firewall) to accommodate the new motor. Do a facelift (or not), call it a day, and LAUGH ALL THE WAY TO THE BANK!
Go to a 6 speed manual. Make 4th gear 1:1. Reduce the gearing of reverse by half. Increase the rear suspension pre-load. That's the only changes needed. I'll pay a premium for a new 6 speed!
Let's shoot for 101 hp! BIG TIME.

He lied through the whole part about the Mirage.
