I may know of a bunch of b2200's still running around.

Yeah no truck will ever sell for 10k usd in this day and age. Even if it did only tow 600lbs.
My old 82 toyota 4wd pickup was 10,400!!! In 1982!
That's more than the american half tons of the era.
Americans are how do I say this nicely, a bit too rotund to drive mini anything now days in any real numbers.
I don't understand why you would want a pickup truck that is bad at being a pickup truck that looks like a car but is bad at being a car. I guess if you just want a car that looks weird. 600lbs towing? Why bother.
Clearly they couldn't make this with a CVT and with only 3.9% of sales being manuals it would be in the grave before it started.
The reason they don't make every combination possible for everyone's dream car is not enough sales.

The first small pickup in NA was the Falcon based Ranchero around 1960, it's maybe because of that the Japanese launched their small pickups over here. I know Ford had the Mazda based Courier in 1971 I think, did Nissan/Toyota have small pickups for sale here before that?
Zero, 2014 ES Plus 5MT, written off but not forgotten.
Zero II, 2014 SE, 5MT, climate She's HOME now!
Shelby AKA "Cute", 2017 ES 5MT, A/C.
Mirage owners look at the world differently than everyone else, but in a better way
We're driving the Beetle of the 21st century, the greatest small car now available!

Bought a brand new 84 Mazda b2000, 7ft bed,5spd, and AC for $6400.
Drove that thing for 13 years.
Mitsu could easily build the truck I describe, prob with 1000lb tow rating. Will they, prob not.
Those early mini trucks were also cheap commuters.
I still believe there is a market for a small eco truck like the old ones, at a low ball price.
I believe it's why the Mirage is successful.
How many mirages are running around with just one or two occupants.
The rest of stretched(pickup) Mirage could be for cargo and tow rating.
I'm telling ya...

Also drove, for years, the Isuzu Pups/Chevy Luvs with 58 hp diesels. Both 2wd and 4wd. Converted an Isuzu 2wd 6ft bed pickup 5spd to a 48 hp diesel out of a Isuzu diesel I-Mark.
Of course all those trucks, the Mazda included, had separate frames underneath.
The Mazda, when new, towed from Toledo, Ohio to Johnson City, Tn. a Nissan Sentra on a tow dolly(approx 2800lbs total) and passengers and cargo totalling an additional 800lbs.
The Mazda had a 2 liter motor.
I would get arrested for that now.
Point being, alot can be done with little platforms.
I would not attempt anything like that again EVER for the safety of all.
Side note: replaced the factory clutch at 175k miles.

Eggman, I would buy the Mitsubishi mini truck if they were street legal in all 50 states.
Myself, like many Americans, do not have a full time need for a full size truck or its fuel mileage. The Rangers and Colorados fuel mileage is hardly much better. 2 mpg better is not enough to me. And the price of the Rangers and Colorados is ridiculous.
Mitsu, Suzuki, Toyota mini trucks would be amazing. Much better fuel mileage.
Would like to see them with at least a 14 inch tire

Fummins, I just sold off my two remaining Isuzus and my 84 cj7 with 2.2 Isuzu 58hp diesel.
I changed my living arrangements to apt living and no place to wrench on used vehicles. Hated to sell. Hated!
Had to have a new reliable vehicle I could afford...thus the new Mirage.
Have I said I love this car?!!!!!!
Even if, I am constantly trying make it fulfill the role of a truck..lol!

A truck that small...and presumably affordable...would have to be made in the US to avoid the Chicken Tax. But building in the US isn't cheap, either, and Mitsubishi no longer has a factory here.
The profit margin isn't there. Best we can hope for is a rebadged Nissan Frontier.
