Side marker LED replacement

Hi,

Does anybody know if the side markers/turn signals on the hatch need resistors if i change them to a led strip?

I plan on opening them up and doing a DIY switchback side marker drl.. Something like what the '15 mustang has. Mine broke so thinking of doing a mod while I' m changing them.
