Keep in mind we never know from the sales numbers what proportion is fleet vs. retail.

Outlanders are selling in droves around here. After Mitsubishi took a slide you wouldn’t see a Mitsubishi for days at a time. Now there are Outlanders everywhere. Yesterday I was behind two of them in a row. They are cheap for what they offer and seem like decent vehicles. Given our winters a cheap AWD is gonna sell well.
In my area of Canada, due to new taxes and general price gouging, gas is the most expensive it has ever been. Will it affect Mirage, hybrid, and/or electric sales? We shall see.
I ran into some travelers from Washington state at the gas pumps today and they were in mild shock at how much more expensive gas was here. One guy asked how this could be with so much oil reserves. I told him that one reason was that a third of it is tax. He just politely shook his head in disbelief.

Canada:
Sadly, apparently not!...gas is the most expensive it has ever been. Will it affect Mirage, hybrid, and/or electric sales? We shall see.
172 Mirages delivered in Canada in April, the worst April so far:
April '14 ... 577
April '15 ... 488
April '16 ... 352
April '17 ... 207
April '18 ... 172
If the company would spend 100 bucks on advertising the car when gas is this high, I bet they'd move a lot more of them. People were practically paying Mirage prices for used Metros the last time gas prices were at these levels!
====
US:
Sales dropped a bit vs. last April: 2004 Mirages sold vs. 2069 a year ago.
Still, the Mirage held its own better than other models in the lineup -- overall April sales slumped 13% vs. a year ago.

El Kapitan (05-05-2019)
Sales still up 12% year to date, however!
Interestingly, FCA just announced it would no longer report sales. This follows GM and Ford, too. I wonder if some of the Asian and European makes will follow suit?
They did make a good point: Monthly sales figures can vary widely depending on circumstance such as manufacturing issues, weather, delivery problems, etc. It's not always simply a reflection of how many people went in and got their cars because they were in the market. Sometimes that's affected by outside forces.
Theyre common here in Atlanta. We have 3 metro dealerships close by. Hell, Outlanders are everywhere, my sister in law has one. Nice ride! I might upgrade when I have kids. Those Outlander seats are better than the Infiniti suv I Ubered in.
I might be trading my 2014 in on a new one next year if I don't go electric. So my paltry single purchase can help drive those sales numbers back up!

Mirage sales took a big tumble last month:
2150 vs. 3101 in May 2018. That's a 31% decrease.
And overall for the company, sales were down substantially:
9750 vs. 12416 in May 2018. That's a 22% drop.
And that's with 13 new dealerships in the States this calendar year.
The only model to post an increase was the Eclipse Cross at 1012 vs. 851. A paltry increase of 161 vehicles is hardly what you could call a bright spot in the report:

Huh. That's not great, is it? A few comparisons for May '19:
FCA: +2% (Fiat -29%)
Honda: -4.9
Mazda: -16.0%
Mitsubishi: -22%
Nissan: +0.1%
Toyota Cars: +0.4 (+3.2% including trucks)
VW: +14%
No big gains by anyone other than VW, although the trend was up just slightly.
Keep in mind, Mitsubishi USA is still up 4.6% vs. 2018.
MetroMPG (06-04-2019)
248 sales in May, up a bit from May 2018.
